The Expressing Grief Arts Therapy Program is designed to support you in exploring your inner world, connecting with your grief, thoughts, and emotions, and expressing them through a variety of creative and therapeutic arts practices. Arts Therapy combines the healing power of creativity with psychotherapeutic techniques, offering a gentle yet profound pathway for self-exploration, grief processing, and emotional understanding.

You do not need any prior artistic or creative experience, as this program is about the process, not the final product. It is especially valuable for those who find it difficult to put their grief, emotions, or thoughts into words. Creative expression becomes a bridge, allowing feelings that may feel overwhelming or inexpressible to emerge safely, be explored, and be experienced meaningfully.

Throughout the sessions, you can explore your grief, discover healthy ways to express and process your emotions, and integrate holistic strategies into your daily life to support ongoing healing and resilience.

Grief Art Therapy Program

Program Structure: 6 Classes | 6 Weeks | 2 Hours per Week

Each class session includes:

Weekly Theme & Dharma Talk
Each class begins with the introduction of a carefully chosen theme related to grief. This is followed by a gentle Dharma Talk, offering insight, guidance, and reflective prompts. Together, they provide a thoughtful framework for reflection, helping you explore your emotions and thoughts, connect with your inner wisdom, and engage with your grief with clarity, compassion, and self-awareness.

Guided Meditation
You will be led through grief-informed meditation practices designed to prepare you for the art therapy activities. Different meditation styles may be used to engage various aspects of grief, with each practice serving its own purpose in the healing process.

Creative Arts Therapy
A central part of the session, Creative Arts Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to explore grief through creative expression. No artistic skill is required, and the focus is on the process rather than the final product. This practice allows emotions, thoughts, and experiences that are difficult to put into words to be safely expressed and processed.

Online Group Connection / Sharing
Participants are invited to share their reflections and insights within a safe and compassionate private online group. This space fosters empathy, mutual support, and the understanding that grief is a shared human experience. You are not alone in your journey.

Savasana & Relaxation
Each session concludes with guided relaxation and Savasana, allowing you to integrate the experiences of the session, release tension, and reconnect with a sense of calm and balance. This final practice supports grounding, reflection, and restoration for the body, mind, heart, and spirit.

Melissa is a qualified Creative Arts Therapist and Group Facilitator, Mindful Grieving Yoga and Meditation Therapist and Group Facilitator, Yoga and Meditation Teacher, Holistic Grief Counsellor, and a certified Sound and Vibrational Healing Practitioner.

Her dedication to supporting grievers stems from her own profound experience of loss following the passing of her husband. In working through her grief, Melissa discovered the transformative power of holistic practices, particularly creative expression through Arts Therapy, alongside mindful movement, meditation, and sound therapy. These practices became vital tools in her own healing, and she now shares them to help others who are grieving a loss.

Melissa provides a safe, sacred, and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their grief, express emotions and thoughts that may be difficult to articulate, and process loss in deeply meaningful ways. She supports people through all types of loss, and through her understanding, compassion, and authenticity, she guides grievers to move gently through their grief while still holding onto the love and memories that loss carries. Her work empowers participants to reconnect with their inner wisdom, cultivate resilience, and discover moments of peace, insight, and healing amidst sorrow, often through the powerful, restorative process of creative expression.
