The Mindful Grieving Yoga Therapy Program is a grief-focused, somatic-based program designed to nurture the connection between body and mind as you move through loss. Through the mindful practice of gentle hatha and yin yoga, meditation, and breathwork, we explore all four bodies - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

This program blends traditional yoga principles with grief-informed therapeutic techniques, offering a holistic approach that helps you not only feel and lean into your grief but also understand, process, and integrate it. By engaging in mindful movements and tuning into the sensations of your body, you’ll begin to uncover areas of tension and emotional, mental, or spiritual blockages that may be impeding your healing. This practice encourages a deeper awareness of your body’s innate wisdom, fostering a natural flow of energy that supports emotional balance, stability, and resilience.

Throughout the program, you’ll learn how to shift grief within the body, to move gently through emotions that feel stuck, and to connect more deeply with your inner wisdom. You will be held, seen, and heard, and offered a safe space to be witnessed, while also having the opportunity to witness and support others on their journey.

This program is designed for anyone navigating grief. It offers a gentle, mindful style of yoga suitable for all fitness levels and experience, whether you are new to yoga and meditation or already have a regular practice. Above all, it is a space to nurture healing, find hope, and cultivate the courage to carry grief with compassion and presence.

Grief Yoga Therapy

Program Structure: 6 Classes | 6 Weeks | 2 Hours per Week

Each session is thoughtfully designed to support your grief journey.

Weekly Theme Exploration / Dharma Talk
Each class begins with the introduction of a carefully chosen theme related to grief, healing, and resilience. These gentle teachings provide guidance, insight, and reflective prompts to help you explore your experiences and connect with your inner wisdom.

Guided Meditation
You’ll be led through a calming meditation practice, designed to help you center your whole being, cultivate presence, and gently navigate the emotional terrain of grief. These meditations create space to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, fostering inner stillness and clarity.

Journalling
Following the meditation, time is dedicated to personal reflection through journaling. This practice allows you to articulate your thoughts, release emotions, and engage with your grief on a deeper, more conscious level. Prompts and guidance are provided to support your self-exploration.

Online Group Connection / Sharing
Participants are invited to share their reflections and insights within a safe and compassionate private online group. This space fosters empathy, mutual support, and the understanding that grief is a shared human experience. You are not alone in your journey.

Gentle Mindful Grieving Yoga Therapy / Movement
Each session includes gentle, mindful movement tailored to the body’s needs. These hatha and yin yoga asanas and movement practices help release tension, restore energy, and cultivate a sense of embodied presence, allowing grief to move through the body rather than remaining stuck.

Relaxation / Integration
Sessions conclude with a period of guided relaxation and integration, offering time to rest, absorb the teachings, and reconnect with your inner calm. This closing practice supports grounding, reflection, and the consolidation of your whole being… body, mind, heart, and soul.

Melissa Lindsay - Grief Yoga Therapist

Melissa is a qualified Mindful Grieving Yoga and Meditation Therapist and Group Facilitator, Yoga and Meditation Teacher, Creative Arts Therapist and Group Facilitator, Holistic Grief Counsellor, and a certified Sound and Vibrational Healing Practitioner. She facilitates the Mindful Grieving Yoga Therapy Programs across Australia and internationally, supporting individuals through loss with compassion, presence, and expertise.

Her passion for guiding grievers comes from her own experience of profound loss after the passing of her husband. In navigating her grief, she discovered the transformative power of the holistic tools she now brings to her programs, from mindful movement and meditation to creative expression and sound therapy. These practices became lifelines in her own healing, and she now shares them to help others find solace, connection, and restoration.

Melissa provides a safe, sacred, and non-judgmental space for individuals to hold, acknowledge, and process their grief. She supports people through all kinds of loss, and through her understanding, compassion, and authenticity, she guides grievers to move gently through their grief, while still holding the love and memories that loss carries. Her work helps individuals reconnect with their inner wisdom, cultivate resilience, and discover moments of peace and healing amidst sorrow.
